    Red Rising

    €35.95

Enter the futuristic universe of Red Rising, based on the book series by Pierce Brown featuring a dystopian society divided into fourteen castes. Will you break the chains of the Society or embrace the dominance of the Golds?

Red Rising is a hand-management, combo-building game for 1-6 players (45-60 minute playing time). You start with a hand of 5 cards, and on your turn you will deploy 1 of those cards to a location on the board, activating that card’s deploy benefit. You will then gain the top card from another location (face up) or the deck (face down), gaining that location's benefit and adding the card to your hand as you enhance your end-game point total. If at any point you’re really happy with your hand, you can instead use your turn to reveal a card from the top of the deck and place it on a location to gain that location’s benefit.

    Psycho Killer

    €29.95

In the deck, there are 5 cards for the psycho killer and cards for the weapons he uses to attack you.
Your turn consists of playing as many cards as you like from your hand but must end by you drawing a card from the top of the deck. However, you do not need to play a card to draw from the deck.

If someone draws a Psycho Killer card they must play it on the table in front of them, unless they can evade the Psycho Killer. If they cannot, every player with a weapon card in their hand gets attacked.

When attacked, players must place their Weapon cards face up on the table in front of them. These are called Injury Piles.

Each Psycho Killer and Weapon card is worth a certain amount of points. When they are added to your injury pile they become Injury Points. The game ends when the last Psycho Killer card is drawn and the player with the lowest amount of injury points wins.

    Moon

    €44.95

Moon depicts an almost plausible rush to construct lunar bases that are attractive places to live and work for the people of Earth. The most prestigious base will become the new lunar capital!

The game employs the familiar "pick & pass" or "hand drafting" mechanism for players to select a new structure cards to add to their base. Each hand of cards represents a convoy of experts and equipment travelling between the players' outposts, giving the player the choice of one new construction each turn. In a new twist on the genre, each hand always contains one of a number of "Expedition" cards that grant a special free action every turn before passing on to the next player.

Wooden lunar rover tokens are a neutral resource that add a worker placement element to the game. They are also used to break ties and so must be used with care.

Over the three distinct eras of the game, players compete for majority in 5 aspects of their bases: housing, transportation, science, industry, and food production. At the end of each era, the leader in each of these areas as determined by flag icons on their constructed buildings, collects bonus victory points.

Each game also features a number of randomly selected "Reputation" cards which provide one-time or ongoing bonuses for the player who meets the requirement and claims the card.

    Forest Shuffle

    €25.95

In Forest Shuffle, players compete to gather the most valuable trees, then attract species to these trees, thus creating an ecologically balanced habitat for flora and fauna.

To start, each player has six cards in hand, with cards depicting either a particular type of tree or two forest dwellers (animal, plant, mushroom, etc.), with these latter cards being divided in half, whether vertically or horizontally, with one dweller in each card half.

On a turn, either draw two cards — whether face down from the deck or face up from the clearing — and add them to your hand, or play a card from your hand by paying the cost, then putting it into play.

Each tree and dweller shows a cost, and to pay this cost, you must discard cards from your hand into the clearing face up. If you play a tree, flip the top card of the deck into the clearing, then place the tree in front of you. If you play a dweller, pay only the cost on the dweller you choose, then slide this card under a tree that has an empty side that matches the dweller you want to play. (A tree can have cards played on all four sides of it: top, bottom, left, and right.)

Alternatively, you can play a card face down as a tree sapling. This card costs nothing and can have dwellers played on it, but it has no species, whereas each tree is one of eight species.

After you play a card, you can use the effect on this card (drawing cards, placing additional cards, taking another turn, etc.) or gain the bonus you gained if you paid for this card with cards of the same color — or both, if applicable, with the effect taking place before the bonus.

If at the end of your turn the clearing contains more than nine cards, place all of these cards in the box out of play.

During set-up, three winter cards were placed into the bottom third of the deck. When the third winter card is drawn, the game ends immediately, then players tally their points based on the trees and dwellers in their forest. Whoever scores the most points wins.

Forest Shuffle is the first in a line of Lookout games sporting the Lookout Greenline label, produced on FSC certified paper and avoiding plastic completely.

    For Sale (Nordic)

    €16.95

    https://www.iello.fr/co.uk/news/for-sale-is-back-in-our-mini-games-collection

Re-discover one of the greatest bidding games! For Sale is an accessible and yet stragegic game, a major piece that rightfully belongs to the mini games collection: GREAT games in small boxes (Schotten Totten, Time Bomb…).

In 'For Sale', you are real estate agents. Your goal: buy houses for the least amount of money, then sell them and make huge profits! It’ll be up to you to guess the value of the properties to get the biggest cheques!

The game can be divided in two separate phases:

    Let’s buy!

During the buying/bidding phase, as many houses as there are players are placed on the table. You have to overbid one after the other for the houses that are for sale in front of you. Each time a player passes, they get the smallest card of the lot and get half of their money back. The last player gets the biggest card, sure… but also loses all their money!

Once this is over, new houses are revealed until the deck is empty.

    Now let’s sell!

You then have to sell the houses you obtained in order to earn a large added value.

This time, cheques are revealed (as many as the number of players) in the middle of the table.

Exploding Kittens is a highly strategic kitty-powered version of Russian Roulette. Players take turns drawing cards until someone draws an exploding kitten and loses the game. The deck is made up of cards that let you avoid exploding by peeking at cards before you draw, forcing your opponent to draw multiple cards, or shuffling the deck.

The game gets more and more intense with each card you draw because fewer cards left in the deck means a greater chance of drawing the kitten and exploding in a fiery ball of feline hyperbole.

    Cat in the Box

    €29.95

Cat in the Box is an extraordinary trick-taking game about quantum mechanics and cats. Like Schrödinger's famous thought experiment, the cats on the cards only take on their final state or color the moment they are played.

At the beginning of each round all cards are dealt, and players must bid how many tricks they believe they will win with their hand of cards. Next, the lead player will play the first card and declare a color. As cards have no inherent color, the color of any card is only identified when it is played. In turn, every other player plays a single card, often following the lead color. The highest valued card in the color led, or the highest valued red card (red is trump), wins the trick.

Eventually, a player will either choose not to follow the color led or will discover they cannot play a card of the required value. When this occurs, they declare a different color but will lose the ability to play the original color for the rest of the game. Each color & number combination may only be played one time in a game. Players will track this using the research board, by placing a marker of their color on the corresponding field.

Once all cards in the hand have been played, or if one person finds themselves in a situation where they cannot play any of their cards (a paradox occurs), the game ends. Points are awarded for the number of tricks won. In addition, connected squares on the research board that are occupied with your own markers will score extra points, only if you won the same number of tricks as your original bid.

    Cards Against Humanity -...

    €41.95

A party game for horrible people."

Play begins with a judge, known as the "Card Czar", choosing a black question or fill-in-the-blank card from the top of the deck and showing it to all players. Each player holds a hand of ten white answer cards at the beginning of each round, and passes a card (sometimes two) to the Card Czar, face-down, representing their answer to the question on the card. The card czar determines which answer card(s) are funniest in the context of the question or fill-in-the-blank card. The player who submitted the chosen card(s) is given the question card to represent an "Awesome Point", and then the player to the left of the new Card Czar becomes the new Czar for the next round. Play continues until the players agree to stop, at which point the player with the most Awesome Points is the winner.

This, so far, sounds like the popular and fairly inoffensive Apples to Apples. While the games are similar, the sense of humor required is very different. The game encourages players to poke fun at practically every awkward or taboo subject including race, religion, gender, poverty, torture, alcoholism, drugs, sex (oh yes), abortion, child abuse, celebrities, and those everyday little annoyances like "Expecting a burp and vomiting on the floor".

In addition, there are a few extra rules. First, some question cards are "Pick 2" or cards, which require each participant to submit two cards in sequence to complete their answer. Second, a gambling component also exists. If a question is played which a player believes they have two possible winning answers for, they may bet an Awesome Point to play a single second answer. If the player who gambled wins, they retain the wagered point, but if they lose, the player who contributed the winning answer takes both points.

    €17.95

Maria is locked up in a psychiatric ward and must escape finding her son before it’s too late. The Pendulum of the Dead is the first episode of the murderous trilogy about Maria.

50 Clues is an immersive puzzle game that offers the experience of an escape room, but in a format that can be played at home. You combine objects, solve puzzles and decipher codes to complete the story. A smartphone or tablet keeps track of the solutions and provides multistep hints if the need arises.
